You know that dream where you're Flash Gordon (the old, fifties style Flash, not the campy eighties one) and you're investigating murders in ancient Cairo whilst at the same time being pursued by an ominous shadow which eventually turns out to be a malevolent mummy who, it turns out is also the one committing all the murders; then you wake up (in your dream) and you realise that you are in hospital wrapped in bandages and look a little too much like that malevolent mummy to be mere coincidence? This book is nothing like that dream, much to its credit.
An excellent, funny, confusing and often just plain silly storyline accompanies the silly, odd, strange and often just plain disturbing humour to create a horrifying part psychopathic bunny, part theosophist Frankenstein's monster of a book.
If you enjoy Satan, grumpy squirrels, bumpkins and hide tanning then this is without a doubt, the book for you. If you’re worried that you might not enjoy these things let me offer these reassuring words…
I laughed so hard during the reading of this book that I actually fell into a coma, dreamed the fearful mummy dream, woke up (in the dream), woke up (in real life), re-read the previous sentence and then fell instantly back into the coma.
And there is no higher praise than that.
Please buy this book and, after waking from your fourteen consecutive comas, tell everyone you know about it.

Nine toes up.
