Shadows of Tikrit illustrates the Omar Al Farouk Presidential Palace as it appeared when US forces entered shortly after the city’s fall. My goal is for you to see it through the eyes of the soldiers who were there. I took the majority of the photographs for this work on the first day after arriving in April 2003.

Shadows of Tikrit

Paul McKee has done a great job of capturing the palaces of Tikrit during the early days of the 4ID's time there. Having read about the palaces for so long, it is great to have such beautiful photographs to go along with the picture I have in my mind. I highly recommend this book to anyone associated with the 4ID or who is interested in the opulence that Saddam Hussein indulged in during his time as dictator of Iraq.
