Description:A biography of James Franklin Cumbey, native Virginian who moved to Arkansas, Missouri, and finally settled in Minnesota to begin a career with the Great Northern Railroad. This portrait of his life was written by his son, Robert Earl Cumbey, now deceased, for Robert's great-niece Julie Ward as a genealogy project. Julie transcribed the handwritten pages and included a genealogy report on the Cumbey family in the afterward for family researchers. This is a priceless tale of the rigors of a traveling railroad father and his family, the hardships of the 1920's and 30's and the landscape of Minnesota. Keywords:Listed in: |
