This novella is a love story between two vampires. There was enough historical detail in the story to make the vampires believable. The author managed to embue the main characters with distinctive personalities. I found myself drawn into the story enough to care about the lovers' evolving relationship and their fates. The prose is inherent with a lyrical turn of phrase, making it a delight to read.
