Description:

These stories were written during the early 70's. I lived in that town a number of years. Eventually found myself sharing the life of the hippie element. Spent my days on the street. Made jewelry from horse shoe nails. Keenly observed the life around me. The result became Berkeley Tales. Twelve pieces comprise the collection. 1st paperback edition now out of print. To the casual observer most of the street people came across as misfits or worse just downright freaks. But actually, like everyone else in those years, they were people aching to share love generally stumbling into unusual ways of finding how to do it. Myself included

Berkeley Tales really seems to capture the spirit of its setting. As I am too young to actually remember this period, I found myself immersed in a real sense of community. The stories, like the characters, connect with one another, and yet stand alone. Highly recommended!

A fast-paced page-turner, Berkeley Tales is great entertainment! A wonderful read! Chock full of memorable characters--each unique and yet somehow familiar--they tell the tales of happy hippy times; of love and loss; of experiencing the vitality of life; and the magic of a thousand sea shells. This is a book you'll want to share with your friends!

Vibrant! Alive! Jumps out at you from the page! Like nothing I've read elsewhere, with characters you won't meet elsewhere, and about a time and a place that, though thirty plus years ago, seems like yesterday. Hard to put down once I got started!
