Description:This book is a history of Maryhill Football Club, founded in 1884 in Glasgow, Scotland. At the time of their formation Maryhill was a village on the outskirts of the city. Maryhill are classed as a ‘Junior’ club, this is not a reference to the age of the players as the majority are semi-professional. In the late 19th century Maryhill FC had a few years as a ‘Senior’ club playing against the likes of Rangers, Queens Park, Partick Thistle etc. The club has produced many Scottish international players - Danny McGrain, Tommy Burns, Paul Wilson (all Celtic), David Meiklejohn (Rangers), Bradford City's FA cup winning captain and goalscorer Jimmy Speirs, Aberdeen's first capped player Willie Lennie and Dons legend Donald Colman. Contains photographs, results, goal scorers and items from former players and managers. Listed in: |
