Description:

Alone and in hiding, the young widowed Queen takes on a new identity as she grieves the death of her husband and the loss of her newborn son, abandoned to the care of strangers for his own protection. Hatred for the man who ripped away all she held dear tempers her grief and haunts her nightmares as she relives his brutality, his betrayal. The support of her cousin and a new love do little to ease the pain of her emotional scars, until a face from the past finds her in Cape Carey with a revelation that sends her on a journey across the Kingdom, from the high mountains of the north to the rolling hills of the Estmarch, her birthplace. It is a mission to restore hope.

In Exile picks up the story several months after the end of the first book. It follows familier charecters and some new ones on a long and eventful journey around the area known as The New Kingdom. This has a reletivly new King and our heroes are not best pleased about that. Infact, they'd quite like it if he were dead.
By taking us on tour of the kingdom this time, we are given a better idea of the lay of the land, as well as discovering a lot more about the heroes we follow. There is a slight increase in the references to magic here as well. Fatalities and double crossing dealings add to the guess work and trill of finding out who did what and why throughout the book. A wonderful read, good pace, and lots of little plot lines to follow and pay attention to.

A great story! Really, really difficult putting this book down! Very recommended to everyone, particularly those who enjoyed 'Hierath'.
