I had withdrawn this anthology of poems from the inaugural Tom Howard Poetry Contest from sale. It was our very first anthology and is not of equal quality to the far more elaborate books represented by subsequent efforts. Mind you, the poems themselves are great and would still win prizes today against much stiffer competition. But there are only 38 of them, spread over a mere 71 pages. The printing is still quite attractive, but there are no illustrations and due to a change in color printing procedures since the book was first published, the covers no longer reproduce as well as they did originally.
But when all is said and done, it is the poetry itself that really counts. And here are 35 superlative examples of true poetic art and creativity. Modesty forbids to include my own contributions, even though "The Actor Deprived of His Voice" did win Third Prize in a popular national contest.
