The reader is left with the dilemma "what would I have done?" And of course the more you try to justify your belief that you would hand in the cash the more you realise that you wouldn't. Surely the fact that you are left thinking about this story for a longer period than it took you to read it in the first place is the sign of a well written piece of work.
