Description:

Jamie Hall is an agent who works for an agency dealing with the worlds her people have found through gateways to other dimensions. When the leaders of her department seem bent on establishing control over the worlds they've found instead of studying them, Jamie and some of her brother and sister agents take a stand against the attitude. But their stand isn't one her superiors care to allow, and she and the others are caught off guard, then sold into slavery on some of those backward worlds. Prince Galeson has just been named his father's heir, and at the party announcing his naming he's given the gift of a slave who's different from any he's ever seen. Can Jamie recruit him to her cause and convince him to free her? But if she does, will Galeson insist on traveling to other worlds with her? Galeson knows nothing about technology of any kind; how could he possibly cope with the worlds Jamie operates on? And what chance is there for two such different people ever getting together in a permanent way?
