As a young man, David Winyard rode his bicycle from Oregon to Delaware with Wandering Wheels, an Indiana-based cycling organization. The experience was so fulfilling that he repeated the trip a few years later on a tandem bicycle with his wife Traci. In 2002, after years of preparation, Winyard set out on the same bike to duplicate his youthful experience with his oldest child, David Charles, then fourteen. At age 45, Winyard found the trip to be a much greater challenge than expected.
