This was a nice, amusing read that to be honest I wasn't expecting much from. But you did not disappoint. Sometimes you want easy reads like this, not dense literature. I'll be downloading a copy to see how this all works out for him. My only regret is that I have read the preview and it might spoil the whole story for me. It's a catch 22 situation. What ya gonna do?
I read this all in one read, and loved it! While hilarious, parts of it cut pretty close to the bone. If you've ever been lonely or wondered why people don't ever seem to "get" you (everyone at least once or twice in their lives), then you will be able to identify with the sad, sweet loser-hero of this book. I found this book from a rave review at Mrs. Giggles' website, and am so glad I did.
Gotta say -- I loved this book - it made me laugh from page to page. Very amusing stuff and a comical writing style to boot. Not the most original review but hey I bought it and loved it -- what more can I say.
Cheers,
Shane

It's like reliving the trainwreck of adolescence. It made me flinch, but I couldn't put it down. Sucks you in and stays with you.

i read it in one sitting. it made me laugh so hard in many places, harder than any book has made me laugh in a long time. it was also depressing but so real. this is a book about a person who really exists somewhere....likely not you, but somebody we've all been and met. flawless craft alon. i recommend this book to everyone.
Very gripping- I started reading the preview and I couldn't stop until the arrow went grey and I ran out of pages. It's such a sad life but it's so real- some of the things could have straight out of my journal a couple of years ago (includign the temp jobs). Easy to read and very easy to get wrapped up into!
If you like self-deprecating humor, I'd definitely recommend this book. I think most people can relate to the main character on certain levels. Even if you can't, it's a pretty quick read and you're in for a few laughs so there's really nothing to lose.
So, for the first few pages, I was laughing. The lines as they were delivered really helped explain this guy so that the writing style itself is understandable, and the grammar is thus just as easily forgivable. He is poor, unread, and lonely, so this is his handwritten journal.
That's partly the problem, because aside from the genital warts, it could have been my journal at the age of 25. Right down to the temp jobs, bad teeth, and lousy dates.
This is really strong writing in spite of the character’s fumbling grammatical errors. He is still descriptive enough to really help you understand that how he sees himself and how other see him are at complete odds with each other. He has no self esteem, and so every attempt to offer advice is "tearing him down". It's good stuff, but just not funny stuff. In any case, it is a book I would recommend to others with the caveat that it's not really a comedy at all.
