"Joseph Miles can write, that's obvious enough from reading just a few pages of Machinations. His prose is polished, atmospheric and often literary in style...I'd say he's one to watch." - Dark Fire Fiction
Is spellbinding. Superb. I expected nothing less from author Joseph Miles. Machinations will stun you senseless with its imagery and steady feeling of impending doom. I shut the book and felt as if I had been narrowly missed by a speeding locomotive. Fan you say? Yes, definitely. I'll read anything this man produces, and I highly recommend reading Machinations - 11 Tales of Death and Despair.
Machinations doesn't fool around. Solid horror, to tease, tingle and even titillate but gritty, raw, and somehow very real. Rich depths of texture and nuance woven into plot and character with a fraught undercurrent just below the surface of it all. One to lift my feet from the floor and take them safely underneath me.

"Machinations: 11 Tales of Death and Despair is a superb conglomeration of eleven stories written by author Joseph Miles. Ranging from suspense, the supernatural, murder, and psychological horror, you get an intense diversity that will hold your attention...all the stories have their own touch of insanity. Joseph Miles has a natural flair for the stories to start off with a bang, lead you one way, only to throw you a curve, and then end with a punch. I highly recommend checking."
