Description:

This book is a poetic complement to the Valentine’s Exhibit at The Adobe Gallery, in Castro Valley, California. The resulting collection, titled, like the exhibition, “HeArt’s Desire”, is full of the sultry, sexy stories of new beginnings, spurned lovers and the long smoldering of the married faithful. It celebrates the artistic with more than a few references to the power of revelation available to those who hold the brush and contemplate the painting. It invites us all, deeper, closer, to a world of our collaborative collage. The poems, stories, sayings and reflections recorded here are heartfelt and tender, searing and still. The assembled community of writers is an inspired and pedigreed one. We are each grateful for your kind eyeballs and response to our collected work.

Review From Art With Words Poetry Quarterly [ No Rating ] 13 Mar 2007
This book, which is a collection of poetry, sayings and the reflections of writers was according to the editor “a last minute caffeine brainstorm”. How-ever, I found this book extremely well put together; with an outstanding collection of writers within its covers. “HeArts Desire” was originally published as a complement/fund raiser to a show at the Adobe Art Gallery. (Each artist represented in the book donated his/her work to this worthy cause.) The subject matter of this book is love; but there is a great deal of diversity in how that subject is presented and the different aspects of loving, or in some cases lost love. There is Carolee Gearhart who wants a man “Who’ll lick the sweat / off a cold beer / before he guzzles it down. elizaBeth Benson-Udom who in her outstanding poem “loving him”, writes of the loving relationship with husband and family. Now as some of you know I am not overly fond of reading love poems, but I found this book refreshing in how the subject matter was presented and in its variety of writers. I found this book to be one of those books in which you find something new every time you read it. Debra J. Harmes Kurth, Editor
