Cantor Erik Contzius' Psalm 150 was written in honor of his
accompanist's 10th anniversary at Temple Israel in Omaha, Nebraska.
The prayer is set to a rythmically interesting and repeating pattern, one that is easy for choir and congregants to learn and sing with.
The melody is fun to sing, set accurately to the Hebrew text, and also has enough repetition for the lay singer to
catch on.
This psalm setting can be done either by solo cantor or with unison choir, and as such lends itself to both adult and youth choirs. It is a welcome musical addition for Shabbat morning liturgy.
