i expected alot better from erle. his vidoes are great and in formative. i bought this book hoping to teach myself bagua till i can find a teacher. i learned very little that i didn't already know.
the layout of the book is hard to follow with text and picture on different pages. it has poor picture quality.it severely lacks enough pictures to understand the sequences of the circle walking form and most of the linking movements from posture to posture. it is a nice reverence to have but if you really want to learn bagua on your own get another book to start out with. such as combat baguazang 9 dragon system,The Essentials of Ba Gua Zhang,or Baguazhang: Emei Baguazhang Theory and Applications.
i love erle's video's that i have watched. and i do not question his knowledge. but this book fails many ways in its tasks but achieves in others. this is not a beginers book. in order to use and apply what is in this book you will need another book to fill in the missing pieces. my honest opinion is this book is about a 2-2.5 out of 6. so the rating will be a 3 out of 6.

This book and the second in the series detail every aspect you need for beginning bagua. Erle's works have helped me tremendously. He has a way of explaining things that I have not previously encountered in martial arts books and videos. Very detailed. He is also a super nice person. His dim mak information in particular, is, for me, second to none.
