Description:This is my third collection of poems. My poems have appeared in magazines and books for many years. A list is online at my website www.arthurchappell.clara.net/publications.htm This collection presents completely fresh material. Here are poems about the nightmare that is a late night bus ride through South Manchester, (Slow Bus To Stockport), a less realistic horror story in verse, Doctor Of The Night, tells of a hospital where the patients are already dead, or at best, undead. Wetlook offers a complete contrast, as a man gets his sexual desires fulfilled in the bathtub. That poem, and a few others are just for grown ups, but Toothache and Day Trip could be read to younger audiences. The toughest poem to write was No Drop Of E, about what happens when the most popular letter of the alphabet goes missing. Trying to write the first half of that without the E was a real pain. I hope reading it is by contrast, a real pleasure for you. Listed in: |
