Description:

Marine biologist Cassie Boulton likes her coffee with cream and her literature with happy endings. Her favorite book is Pride & Prejudice, but Cassie has no patience when a modern-day Mr. Darcy appears in her lab. Silent and aloof, Calder Westing III doesn’t seem to offer anything but a famous family name. But there is more to Calder than meets the eye, and he can’t get enough of Cassie Boulton. Especially after one passionate night by the sea. But Cassie keeps her distance. Behind the veneer of scientific accomplishment, wit, and warmth, she is determined to hide secrets from her past. That means avoiding men who want to get too close, especially tempting and dangerous ones like Calder. Frustrated by Cassie’s evasions, Calder tells her about his feelings the only way she’ll let him – by rewriting her favorite book, with the two of them in the roles of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. But only Cassie can decide whether to risk her future by telling him the dangerous truth.

Delightful [ No Rating ] 13 Jul 2007
Ms. Reynolds has brought the spirit of Pride and Prejudice to Cape Cod and done a masterful job of it. P&P fans everywhere will love this modern take of the story and those not familiar or just not into Jane Austen or Pride and Prejudice will love the fun story and delightful romance.

This is a definite keeper and one I will read many times over. Truly enjoyable! I look forward to more of Ms. Reynolds published works.

A sexy, modern adaptation of P&P. Darcy and Elizabeth have a chemistry that can't be denied and this story won't let the reader forget it! Reynolds has such a light touch with her writing, it's amazing what emotion she can wring out of it!
Reynolds best yet!

I've read all Reynolds' published works and as much as I love her Regency Era Pride and Prejudice adaptaions, this modern work is by far her best! You need not have read any of Jane Austen's works to follow this. The characters are totally believable, the situations compelling and the writing top notch. I read this from cover to cover in one night as I simply could not put it down. It easily could have ended a hundred pages earlier and been satisfying-- but the final twist was a bonus. I look forward to re-reading this again this summer at a more leisurely pace. I bought two, one for me and one as a gift!
