After reading several Black History tid bits for my childs class, I have found several discrepancies. This book covers at least one. Appearantly Georger Franklin Grant patented the first golf tee. Not true! The first patent was to a Scotsman in 1889 and 3 other Englishmen, including Percy Ellis (England) before Grants "improved golf tee" in 1899. This book and many other like it I have found, are attempting to rewrite the history books in order to make the black race feel better about them selves. As was stated in the last response...Shame, shame, shame!
What a great book about five black inventors in the history of the United States
by Gary Penton
Much of the text is dedicated to:
Andrew Jackson
Thomas Jefferson
Abraham Lincoln
Warren Harding
Calvin Coolidge
Ostensibly as page filler.
Author only listed nine black inventors from 1956 to present. There have been millions and millions of inventions (I patented two myself) and I was surprised at a number that I could count on one hand. Very telling indeed. You could have made it six if you had listed Jesse Jackson for his "Wall Street Project" racial extortion racket that has garnered nearly one billion dollars but the US Attorney General has marching orders to leave him alone...he's bulletproof. Don't want to stir up places like southcentral LA.
Watch coverage of Katrina and mentally note shade of refugees and shade of people sweeping up trash and excrement, serving, leaning over patients 16 hours a day, flying helicopters. generally doing e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.
What are the darker shades doing? Rushing to the cash card lines and running to another line to get another card. Shame, shame , shame. And the shade wonders why we ignore you. We hear you complain and we hear. We simply gently smile and file it away. Things will never change until you redirect your megaphones away from us and reverse them to your people that are dragging you down.

From Brad Pye's Foreward - Dr. Vaughn’s book should not only be required reading for Blacks, but for all people. Most of society still believes what historian Arnold Toynbee wrote in his 1934 history book: "It will be seen that when we classify mankind by color, the only primary race that has not made a creative contribution to any civilization is the Black race." Dr. Vaughn sets the record straight on this lie and on so many other untruths about Black history.
