Description:

Ceann MacMurrough had been a kitchen slave in an English manor since he was four years old. When a party of border raiders inadvertantly set him free he ran north as his mother taught him. Once he judged himself far enough from the manor he stopped to hunt and in so doing met his first real Scotsman, Robert the Bruce. Joining the King's cause, he traveled further into the Highlands to meet the powerful chief Duncan the Stout and was entrusted to the care of Clan Donnachaidh, some of Bruce's strongest supporters and the best place for a boy to grow into a warrior. Over the years he and his clan followed the Bruce from Dal Ridh to Bannockburn, paying the price of Freedom and ensuring the future of Scotland.

This a great book. For anyone interested in Scottish history woven into an exciting story about Clan life and Robert the Bruce. It's not a slow story but holds your attention well. My son of twenty some years has been through it four times already.
