It is a vampire story told through the lives of 3 main characters, Xavier Dodrescu (Romanian peasant, vampire, lover), Wolfgang Schmidt (Austrian student, coven high priest, lover, soldier, vampire) and Margaret Baker (workhouse raised orphan, housemaid, prostitute).

Set against a backdrop of rapidly changing world history, Schmidt's Catholic background and military service and Baker's upbringing and resultant sexual identity form the motivation for their actions as their destiny, shaped by demonic intervention, draws the characters together for the violent finale.

Set at a time before fingerprinting and blood typing were available detection techniques, red herrings and sub plots will keep the reader guessing right up to the last page.

The book contains adult erotica and violence throughout.
