Whether this project is really beyond imagination is a debatable point, but Mr O'Loughlin was clearly intent on pushing his material to the opposite extreme of anything apparent and imaginative, which in a way he has succeeded in doing to quite a philosophical extent, focusing on a concern with essence and all that is removed from dreams and imaginings. In that respect, he would seem to have put his youthful poetry far behind him.
