Description:You either have or will have spent an enormous amount of time in meetings. In over forty-five years of active work life, counting schools, seminars and general office meetings, I have attended meetings for the equivalent of a year or more! This was mostly a waste of time insofar as meeting objectives posted on the agenda. It took me a while to realize that all meetings probably do serve some purpose, however. This seemingly colossus waste of time prompted me write an essay a few years ago entitled, “The Anatomy of a Meeting”. To get started, I first asked myself the question; “Why in the world do so many people ‘sit in’ on meetings when they don’t really need to do so?” And, how can they profit from those that they must attend? It was then that I began to understand the real (sometimes subliminal) reasons people go to meetings. Keywords:Listed in: |
