Description:

With THE CAT AT LIGHT'S END, Charlie Dickinson brings together an affecting title story about a family living out of a beater van with an inspirational, if sleeping, cat on the dashboard, and thirteen other stories, all originally published online. A diverse collection--characters range in age from 14 weeks to 102 years--these stories got the nod from such editors as Richard Cumyn at BLUE MOON REVIEW, Frederick Barthelme at MISSISSIPPI REVIEW, and Frank Thomas Smith at SOUTHERN CROSS REVIEW. Moreover, "La Mosca" published at AMARILLO BAY was nominated for inclusion in e2ink-1: The Best of the Online Journals 2002.

Readers searching for versatility or depth of character, look no further than Dickinson's "Cat at Light's End." After reading this collection you'll feel as if you've just had a drink with long lost friends in some comfortable, sleepy bar. Shades of Carver pepper these stories, but make no mistake, original themes, characters, and simply good writing dominate here. And isn't that all you really want from a good writer? Well done and recommended.

Just read the preview for this collection "La Moscas" an excellent story, the writing was clean, characters believable, this author moves this story forward effortlessly & ends this piece in a way that grabs the reader in a memorable way! If the rest of the stories in this collection are this good, this promises to be some fine reading, I would recommend this work without reservation!
