Description:Because police are under NO LEGAL OBLIGATION to protect any citizen, it is imperitive that legislation be enabled at the local level to provide for "homeland security" through much more available delivery systems (such as trained, reserve deputy sheriffs). Whether our enemy is a roving band of drug dealers, or terror being imported by hostile alien nationals, the citizens of our communities are this nation's first, and best, natural defense. Constitutional researcher Harold W. Bolinger, under contract with the Gun Owner's Foundation, has drafted a collection of Second Amendment-agreeable legislative proposals for introduction at the state and local level. Along with introductory analysis' of both the militia and the historic powers of the office of sheriff, this book is a MUST READ for Crime Watch groups, local law enforcement, college-level criminal justice & law school students, local and state legislators, and others concerned with the problems of policing our cities and counties. And note the unsubstantiated terrorizing and appeal to the hysterical: that the police are "UNDER NO OBLIGATION" to protect citizens. Doubtless that is a distortion -- the police are certainly under mandate to "serve and protect" the community, including individuals. So what are the "sources" for the assertion that they are "UNDER NO OBLIGATION"? I've been asking for those, for years, from those who advance that assertion, but have yet to receive any evidence -- or "proof" -- upon which to base that assertion. I still request such information; but will dounbtless wait forever before such is ever presented for critical evaluation.
The law is as it has always been: No sane society leaves dangerous substnaces and objects lying around unregulated. And: the Second Amendment is irrelevant to the issue of private, individual ownership of guns. Ignoring, or misrepresenting the law on that point, as does NRA and its spawn, does not alter it; it only perpetrates a fraud based soely upon anti-Constitutional ideology.
