I bought Joy Argento's book as I had come across her works on the internet and was impressed enough to buy several paintings. Having been moderately good at art many eons ago, I was interested to know the techniques Joy used to produce such warm and beautiful works. This book is fascinating in that it covers the span of earlier works to her latest, something that inspired me into believing that mine could also improve as dramatically with good eye, tools and practice.
The other aspect of this book is that it is essentially lesbian art, and Joy describes her long period of masking her true feelings, her coming out, and then her meeting with her partner. This frank narration blends in really well with the descriptive techniques of her art, producing a most worthy and tender book by a very talented lady. Well done, Joy!
