Description:

When the human race goes bad, Killer Ducks will stride the world to wreak their terrible revenge. Now is that time!! The human race is not ready to repell them, especially in Yorkshire. Once you have read this book, you will never view ducks in the same light again. When The Ducks come, carnage and hilarity ensue! The first but not the last book from the acerbic comedy pen, hey, acerbic comedy computer of Len Horridge tells the allegedly hilarious yet sometimes almost true story of how killer ducks terrorised a country and brought it to the brink of collapse and its collective knees. A parable of our times. With funny bits, obviously. "Douglas Adams meets The Marx Brothers" as one reader described it. "It's very funny," as Terry Wogan of BBC Radio 2 said.

The Ducks [ No Rating ] 9 Jul 2007 (updated 9 Jul 2007)
This is surely a likely contender for the Booker Prize for......wholesale shopping. It has all the elements required of a 21st century classic ....words, sentences, there are even paragraphs and an intellectual slant by the use of punctuation. I think it would be right to describe it as a challenging work, the main challenge being not to spill your drink. A fascinating work too and I don't think I'd be too far off the mark if I said that the author has been just slightly influenced by the works of Salvador Dali. Or Rolf Harris. The reader will recognise a cameo appearance by Orville in chapter 2, in a role may I suggest, which will bring that fluffy green tyke and his antics back to the forefront of modern day thinking.

Mr Horridge has given us a real treasure here and it's only a matter of time before this story (or is it a story?) becomes compulsory reading for students of English and Duck studies. What more is there to say? Get your sticky beak into it very very soon.

This is a book and I have read it.

Arthur Dent meets the League of Gentlemen on the way to the Crack of Doom.

There are too many ducks in it...... Far too many!

P.S. The cover is not waterproof, which is a serious oversight, given the subject matter.

Well, I haven't enjoyed myself in bed so much for a long time! It's all there, the fear, suspense, mounting trepidation....and then there are the laugh out loud funny bits (big bits mind, not just yer average).
This epic ermm...book thing has it all (and so much more besides). Oh yes, I can definitely say it's made a new woman of me. I was quite ok with the old one but hey ho. It's a brill read - get it or regret it.
Caution: You will never look at a duck in quite the same way again.

You'd be "quackers" not to buy this...............

A masterly debut from the pen (computer keyboard?) of Len "Horrible" Horridge, a leading member for many years now of the team of unpaid scriptwriters for the "Wake Guptar Wogan" wireless show (Monday to Saturday, 07.00- 09.00, BBC Light Programme, 1500 metres Long Wave.........................)

Len is consistently funny, although I suspect some or all of this particular work may have been undertaken during an "altered state of consciousness".

Highly recommended.
