Disappointing [ No Rating ] 25 Jan 2007
I was disappointed in this book. I expected a lot of it to be marketing strategy, but more than half was about how to self-publish a book (which, being here at Lulu, I already knew about). The few marketing strategies that were included were fairly obvious, and mostly boiled down to, "Look at Amazon.com, and use as many of its features as possible." Moreover, several of the features described are no longer available, and some suggestions were ethically questionable (for example, signing up with two different Amazon accounts so you can recommend your book twice). Finally, the book was in dire need of an editor.
Great Book ... Lots of Help [ No Rating ] 8 Apr 2006
I found this book easy to understand and follow. It certainly made it far easier for me to start a project that I'd been putting off for years due to lack of knowledge. Recent information, specific and helpful ideas, and easy to follow instructions make this a must-read for anyone considering a publishing project.

I purchased this book and I say the book is outdated. I followed one advice from the book (how to multiple list with Amazon.com) and the reply I got from Amazon.com as follows:

In order to add your title to some more appropriate browse
categories we recommend that you add some appropriate subject categories to this title with our data providers Nielsen BookData.
Nielsen BookData use BIC subject categories to classify titles and we use them to map titles to the appropriate browse categories. A complete list of these categories can be downloaded from the BIC Web
site located at the following URL:
http://www.bic.org.uk/prodinf.html
Please select the option "BIC Standard Subject Categories The new published version in WORD 6 format".

Therefore once you have found some more appropriate subject categories please ask your publisher to contact Nielsen BookData and arrange for them to add these to your title's record.

Once Nielsen BookData have added these subject categories to your title's record we may then begin to map your title to the relevant browse categories.

This book is an excellent source of information. I bought it and put it away. I recently read it in its entirety and I am very impressed. The book is easy to read and the plan is easy to follow. Thank you for putting out such useful information at an affordable price.
