Good story but not true to real charachters [ No Rating ] 13 Nov 2007
If you look at as a book it is good more and more romantic But I cannot buy the fact that both Darcy and Elizabeth would fall prey for physical desires If you stick to original real Jane Austen charachters you feel that love can be more true even without nearness ..though original had no single kiss yet it is one the most popular Romantic novels . I would say that here too much emphasis is been on kiss .Also I cannot think of Darcy been that forward .

But still it is overall a good book to read considering the fact that it is much better than other sequels for Pride and Prejudice
Great Book! [ No Rating ] 17 Jul 2007 (updated 17 Jul 2007)

Impulse and Initiative is one of my favorite Pride and Prejudice 'what if' stories. Lizzy and William show that taking some chances can be very nice!!

The Pemberley Variations are a terrific set of stories about the lives of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy.

In the twists and turns Abigail gives our couple new (and very interesting) problems to work thru!!!

You will want to read them all!

Then you are missing a real treat! Ms. Reynold's Pemberley Variations Series is a wonderful set of Pride and Prejudice "What If" stories.

The entire series is well written and very enjoyable reads. You will want to re-read them all.
I read all her books [ No Rating ] 7 Jul 2007
I bought and devoured all of Abigail Reynolds' books on Pride and Prejudice. They are all so well-consructed and expressive, especially from Elizabeth's perspective. I look forward to her next book which I hope is another version of P & P.
Abigail Reynolds is a masterful storyteller!

Impulse and Initiative is one of her best! Reynolds is a masterful storyteller and her writing style is top notch! Never a careless word or phrase written. All of her work is enjoyable, that I enjoy re-reading often; I can pick up any of her books and start reading it anywhere the pages fall open. This novel holds one of my all time favorite Darcy lines: "Regardless of whether you choose to come to Pemberley or not, Pemberley already belongs to you, and has for many months now. Elizabeth Darcy has been gracing the halls and rooms of Pemberley since my first stay at Netherfield. While I have been passionately admiring Miss Elizabeth Bennett every night in my dreams she has been walking by my side at Pemberley, and she will always haunt me there, no matter what choice you make." This book is a keeper.

Let me begin by saying I will read/purchase anything Abigail Reynolds writes. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of her books and other stories she has on the Austen Interlude website. My favorite is "By Force of Instinct", however, all of her stories are intersting and well written. I also enjoy how Darcy and Lizzy's characters are different from story to story, however, you always like them.

I truly believe Ms. Reynolds is a serious writer that puts alot of work into her craft. I hope she continues to write of Darcy and Lizzy, maybe one that begins after their marriage? I don't believe one exists yet but I would love to read it. Well done Ms. Reynolds, you have a great talent.

This is a wonderful take on a Pride and Prejudice what-if. Great settings, interesting characters, and some really lovely intimacy between the main characters. As always, the author is able to infuse some genuine humor into the characters. I find the Darcy in this one to be nicely complex, not without humor and manipulative in such an endearing way that you want him to succeed.
