Dave is a writer who knows horror and knows how to excute it. Horror for him is an artform, and echoing the old horror masters to boot -- calls to mind both H.P. Lovecraft and Ray Bradbury when Bradbury writes horror stories.

A truly wonderful collection of horror, written in the classic style, none of the modern day "lots of blood and no plot" type, but really scary stories, best read with the light on, just to be safe.

The tone and a lot of the settings remind me of Manly Wade Wellman's Silver John stories. These are the sort of stories that make you wonder when you cut through the old cemetery after dark, or find yourself bewildered in your own patch of woods. There's not gore, gross-out violence, etc, just average folks dealing with something not quite right. I'm glad I bought it!
