Description:

Legend has it that far away to the south, beyond the charted waters of Calabria, the Corsair Islands, or even the Spicer Islands, lies an underwater realm. Some tell of fascinating creatures living in perfect harmony. Others tell horror stories of winged creatures of bright plumage and terrible beaks, serving denizens of the ocean that no Calabrese has ever encountered. Still others speak of dreams: murky green seas where water plays with stray sunbeams and a powerful voice calls to them. Mariners speak of huge numbers of ships lost at sea in that region, all of them chasing the legends of the deep. Some legends have their basis in fact. Some are just stories, spun by the Dream-Carver as she calls out to the souls of the land dwellers. Some, of course, are both.

An excellent piece of fiction. The characters are well rounded, the plot is interesting and the book is engaging throughout.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good, alternate genre read.
