They are the physical comedies of his variety training ground, with the excellent narration. Wisdom's films were some of the most profitable in the Rank roster and were “commercially successful” (Murphy; 1997:247). Their success “lay in incorporating acrobatic physical comedy within a plausible narrative framework” (Dacre; 1997:204). The films are not known for the producer or director, they are not known for the studio where they were made, but they are known all over the world for being Wisdom’s films.
