Description:

NEW WRITERS OF THE PURPLE PAGE by Various Authors... The "Purple Prose" of "The Bloody Pulps" graced American newsstands in the early 20th century and gave us some of literature's most famous authors. This new book features writers who may one day become the New Generation of Imaginative Fictioneers! I'm sure you'll agree that all of these tales are well-crafted and worthy of inclusion in this new talent showcase. Wild Cat Books has long been dedicated to promoting authors and artists that have dwelt in the shadows for far too long... This edition is their chance to shine! Stories include: "PLAYFUL ONES" by Paul Melniczek... "BASKING IN THE WHITE OF THE MIDNIGHT SUN" by Michael Kelly... "THE GHOST AND THE PERIL OF THE CHANGING TIMES" by Ron Capshaw... "THE BARRIER OF BONE" by Kevin MacAbrey... "FATHER DAGON" by Adrian Shepard... and "LIFE INHERITANCE" by Nickolaus Pacione... Great Fantasy and Horror for a new generation!

...the Nickolaus Pacione story, which gave new meaning to the word "terrible."

Ronald Hanna knew what he was doing when he picked the authors in this one so I am not going to write a review of my own story on this anthology, but I will say each author involved with this one are destined to bigger things. Ronald did what other editors won't do, and in that he did something special when showcasing authors within the pulp adventure genre. These stories are a must read for anyone who like speculative fiction. I give it two thumbs because I wish this anthology was a bit longer than 80 pages. Still a lot of fun to read, Father Dagon by Adrian Sheppard (one of my contributing authors on Tabloid Purposes) really brought his talents to the table on this one with a Lovecraftian short story.
Now some reading this might find that story familar because of his appearenace on Temple of Dagon. The other writers in here show their stuff and I hope to see more of their work in the future either on here or on various other anthologies out there. I hope that Bob Gunner is reading this review because there are authors on here that I think he would want to look into. The opening story is one that carries a kicker. The scariest story in the set is Adrian's this time. I was stepping back and allowing the others carry the scare. Mine is a dark take on the literary fiction genre.
Pay attention to these names in the anthology because when the future editions come out the names are going to be bigger or even more known within the landscape of small press fiction. This will mark my fourth appearance as a print published author but each author here penned a memorable story. It is hard to pick a favorite story with this one because they were all pretty damned skilled at what they do. Best of luck to each of the authors I appear with in the future on their own respective ventures. Paul edited a few anthologies and appeared on a known horror anthology called A Walk on the Darkside. This was something I learned in an after thought when putting my second anthology together because one other author who appeared with him pointed it out to me. Those of you who wonder about how the story Life Inheritance came to be, Kevin will know the story because it was in referrence to a lyric from Pantera's Far Beyond Driven. The track I'm Broken -- and it is in tribute to Dimebag Darrell Abbott.
Great job!

I had the honor of reading the stories in this anthology! I must say, each one of them is unique in its own way. I love all of the books, and for once, the stories were actually edited and are free of errors. Clever editors, great stories! Not bad... Good job!
