Would you join a Sex Cult? Would you join any Cult for that matter?
Two books have been written because of Teal Prince, a young lady who joined Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh's Sex Cult when she was about 29 years old. She has remained a member ever since. This post examines some of the reasons why the Cult movement is popular.
A Sex Cult is a phenomenon in itself. Any leader who manages to convince himself and others that he’s a prophet has indeed performed a miraculous phenomena. The title of this twin sequel of books attests to this fact.
A Cult must be self-supporting to ensure its own survival. Members are instructed to sacrifice their worldly possessions in order to cleanse their souls and thus be privileged to enter such a Cult.
The leader of the Cult often preaches Apocalypse and its consequent preparation to meet it by absolute obedience to his philosophies.
Of course, there are less honorable reasons for joining a Cult; especially a Sex Cult. The chief attractions of an avante garde way of life and free sex suffice to entice even the most reticent man, woman, teenage boy or girl.
This novel is weaved with the factual background of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh’s Sex Cult and one member, namely, Teal Prince. The author analyzes and proffers a variety of reasons why Teal joined the Sex Cult. She was young, impressionable, attracted to the easy life style, economically and sexually attracted to one of its respectable members.
Teal was already a practicing non-Cult member with her brand of free sex who found her identity when she was introduced to the Sex Cult. She falls in love with the Sex Cult as naturally as a sex nut takes to its bolt.
How do her family members and close friends react when she joins the Cult? Teal’s lone mother accepts this. So do her nonchalant sibling sisters as each sister is preoccupied with her own set of problematic circumstances.
Teal’s boyfriend, Brome, tries to save her from drowning in the Cult’s cesspool but he fails. This has dire consequences for both Teal and Brome as both are sucked down into the reactive consequences. Teal is a better survivor as she floats around, seemingly oblivious to her role in abetting Brome to fall into depression.
