I thought I understood early S African history UNTIL I read this book. Not only is it easy to read but it explains so much about the impact of the great cultural divide on the country's original inhabitants! The twist at the end involving Marie brought tears to my eyes - and I will never look at the moon in the same light again!

This is a fantastic book - so well researched and so easy to read. The book takes us through the extraordinary history of the Griqua/Khoisan. Not just for the academics! Would make a great school text book.
