This is the story of James M. Butler and Patrick Henry Butler. They are sons of Christopher Columbus Butler and Mahala Cole Butler. James was born in Georgia before the family moved to Alabama. Patrick was born after Christopher and Mahala moved to Shelby County Alabama. Around 1830, the family moved to Coosa County Alabama. James and Patrick both married in Alabama, raised their families and then moved them to Tennessee. Before the Civil War, they lived near the border between Walker County and Fayette County in Alabama. They moved to Tennessee after the war with James settling in Decatur County and Patrick settling in Wayne County.
