Weird yarns by Robert E. Howard. 1st book publication of "The Touch Of Death", 1st book publication of original version of "The Voice Of El-Lil." It also contains versions of stories that first appeared in early fanzines including "Gods Of The North" from the 1934 fanzine The Fantasy Fan. This was an alternate version of a Conan story turned down by Weird Tales. It also contains "The Garden Of Fear" from the 1934 fanzine Marvel Tales. Contains the 2 stories which appeared in Strange Tales, "The Cairn On The Headland" and "The People Of The Dark" which features a guy named Conan as the main character. Predates the first Weird Tales appearance of Conan the Cimmerian by several months. This volume also contains "A Thunder Of Trumpets" by Howard and Frank Thurston Torbett, a rarity from Weird Tales, and the classic "Black Canaan". Also included is a letters column from Strange Tales. Intro by Dennis McHaney. Illustrated. 176 pages. ATTENTION! No longer be available after October 31, 2008!

I would love to buy this book, because Robert E. Howard may as well be a god. For those of you who wonder who this amazing author is, I am here to tell you that Howard is probably the greatest fantasy writer that I have ever seen. His writing is intricate and passionate. Before you subject yourself to reading Robert Jordan's rendition of Howard's "Conan," read the original stories, because I can bet a thousand dollars that Howard is rolling in his grave as we speak, cursing the bastards that took his amazing character and twisted it into their own making. But, I digress...
