Description:

Elspeth Dumont has never known anything apart from the care of her guardians. Relocating from the city to a country estate, rapidly the little girl comes to acknowledge the feud between the two neighboring families, the Graystokes and the Trevellians. Unwittingly she becomes a pawn in their lethal games and once she grows older, unwillingly is pursued by the dangerous but charming Lucian Graystoke. Murder is the name of the game, and survival becomes difficult, particularly when she must contend with a mysterious ghost, Thomas, who once appeared at her window and influences the lives of all who cross his haunted path.

I was impressed with the intricacies of the story and the engaging characters. It drew me in despite the shaky narrative style and sometimes confusing prose structure. The author shows immense promise, and I hope she will continue to hone her craft. She has an imagination too vibrant to hide behind less-than-polished writing. I intend to continue purchasing the rest of her titles.

I read this not too long ago and I'm still charmed by the rogue Lucian! Charity has written a tight, turbulent, and engaging novel filled with murder, secrets, and a hate that grows into love. It was amazing! This is high-quality writing that should be printed by the million and placed into everyone's hands!

Lucian's enticement. Elspeth's torment. Will love conquer all? Trust me, this is one book you do not want to miss. A good gothic mystery/romance is so hard to find these days. Especially one where the romance isn't overblown. Everything about The Face at the Window is shrouded in dark subtleties and beauty. It even bears a hint of the supernatural to titillate your senses. Lucian and Elspeth struggle with their combined loathing and deepest attraction for each other. And throughout the tale is woven a remarkable web of undisturbed secrets which, if loosed, can obliterate all relationships and dreams. I knew from the first chapter that The Face at the Window was a winner. Give it a chance, and you'll love it as much as I do.
