This is the first collection of archival recordings that friends and fans have asked me to make available. The HipWorks LO-FI CRYPT is open, reeking, and I think I see a zombie hand in there....these tracks, grouped into five parts, are from the very fruitful 60-week (1983-84) period, that I spent at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. I was playing in several strange groupings, recording prolifically, and learning that iffy equipment isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Featuring lo-fi recordings with: X's 4 Eyes, Throatless Brown Pelicans, Jerry Ford, and Sam 'Crash' Osteen - who introduced me to 4-track cassette gear and put me on a steep aesthetic learning curve for years to come.
