To Endure: Greek - [hupomeno {hoop-om-en'-o}], To take patiently, to tarry behind, to abide, not recede or flee, to persevere: under misfortunes and trials to hold fast to one's faith in Christ, to endure, bear bravely and calmly: ill treatments. The writer in the Book of Hebrews encourages us to endure as Soldiers in the Army of the Lord: "And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong . . . " (Hebrews 11:32-34).
