This is a short story about a British citizen who got used to life in India during the last decades of British rule there. The story takes place on New Year's Eve in 1947. Friends gathered for one of the last times, as they had done hundreds of times before, and celebrated their Englishness as they were surrounded by native citizens of India, commenting on how the cultures were so different to them. One last hurrah before India gains its' independence.
