I am recalling the years after the Second World War, my time as a Prisoner of War and my later migration as an unskilled labourer to Australia. Especially for the younger generations I also include some historical background.
I shall take you back to pre-war Germany, to prison camps in England, recall my migration to Australia and later as an Australian Accountant to South Africa, with a final return to Germany.
Coming from a Hamburg Taxation Department, I chose a radical change of life to first become a construction labourer, then a miner, and later a stockman, before I went back to town to become Office Manager and later qualified as an Accountant (A.A.S.A. and C.P.A.).
