This song is unplugged. No kind of electricity used for any instrument. I originally wrote this song for DBC and the Jersey Show Nuffs, a soul blues band from the New Jersey Shore area. Long story short, I ended up recording it myself, singing all three parts, and playing drums, piano, alto saxophone, flute, and percussion. "Strike (When the Iron is Hot)" is about the age-old game of some dude trying to get a girl to give him some by appealing to the fact that time is ticking and soon we'll all be worm food. This theme was very popular during the Renaissance (carpe diem). I recorded it at an analog studio in Red Bank near the Count Basie Theater. Since I grew up in Plainfield, NJ, you can faintly hear the P-Funk influences, especially at the end. During the playback I laughed when I realized how much I sounded like Bootsy. Enjoy.
