Sociological Insights software accompanies the book "Thinking Through Statistics". Used for teaching basic social statistics, it provides an easy-to-use interface and several data sets. Among the latter are nearly 300 variables for the 50 United States -- everything from crime rates to poverty rates to the percentage of each state's population that is made up of various groups: Catholics, deer hunters, etc. One of the data sets consists of answers to 250 questions from the 2000 General Social Survey -- a biennial national survey of American adults.
