Dating from 1908-9, Bartók's piano suite For Children is arranged here for string quartet. Not all miniatures are present in this series. A few have been omitted for reasons of technical facility and most others because they would not have translated well to string quartet. The intent of this multi volume set is for quartet coaches to select a number and order of movements appropriate to the needs of the ensemble being coached. The resulting suites need not follow the order presented in these books. All of Bartók's original markings are present. Only some practical bowings, articulations, and phrasing adjustments have been added. This book contains the viola part and a full score.
