This is a Management Primer created to inform managers on e-document security and enterprise digital rights management (E-DRM) software for protecting e-documents both inside and outside an organization. The gaping hole in the security schemes of enterprise content management (ECM) systems is that few, if any, protections exist once the information is legitimately accessed. Enterprise Digital Rights Management software protects e-documents through their life cycle by attaching permissions (e.g. print, edit, forward, time of expiration) to electronic documents.
