Some years ago my wife joined the navy as a doctor. She embarked on a short course with dentists, lawyers, chaplains and other such folk, intended to teach the rudimentals of naval life.
One of the subjects was naval history, not one taken too seriously, and she farmed out the major assessment item to me, knowing that I was interested in these things.
She handed me the list of topics, confiding that she knew very little of any of them and asked that I not take advantage of her ignorance.
The rest is history.
But of course I later had to supply a more credible version for her to submit under her real name.
