A pictorial tour of North Leitrim, Ireland, that shows the landmarks of this part of Ireland that have special meanings to the Gilgunns, who originated in these green hills, full of lakes and valleys, too. Most Gilgunns originate in Ballyboy, which is about a mile from the village of Manorhamilton, County Leitrim, Ireland. Many descendents of the Gilgunns live in North Leitrim, West Leitrim, County Sligo, and County Cavan. This is the land of Cathal Bui Mac Ghiolla Gunna, a famous Irish poet who is part of the Gilgunn clan and of W.B. Yeats, the Nobel Prize winning poet. Some members of the Gilgunn clan were friends with Yeats, according to family stories.
