What are the requirements for submitting eBooks?

Can any type of book be converted to the EPUB file format?
When you convert a book to EPUB, the result is a single block of flowable text and images. On eReader devices, a "page" is simply the amount of content that will fit on a single screen, which of course varies depending on the screen size of the device. Part of converting to EPUB involves removing much of the page-based formatting (page numbers, headers and footers, page breaks, etc.) that are not relevant in the eReading context.
This means books which are largely text-based are best suited for conversion to EPUB format. Books which contain lots of charts, formulas, tables, and images can be converted, but the process will take longer, is more expensive, and may not yield optimal results (i.e. large tables and images which fit on a printed page may be broken across screens on a small mobile device). Bottom line, any book can be converted to EPUB format, but text-based books work best!
What additional information does Lulu require?
Using the batch upload process, publishers must supply EPUB files,cover, image files and a spreadsheet with metadata (project data) for each title. Your Lulu representative will provide templates, instructions, and a reference guide after your request has been reviewed and approved.
How do I submit my eBooks and related files?
Files can be uploaded directly from your Lulu account. Lulu provides built-in access to an FTP server for uploading larger files. Your Lulu representative will discuss the process with you after your request has been reviewed and approved.
Will I retain all copyrights?
Yes. You retain all copyrights and intellectual property rights to your books.
Can I use my own ISBNs?
Yes. Publishers who own registered ISBNs can supply them via the metadata spreadsheet, and you will be listed as the publisher in ebook retail channels. Only ISBN13s are accepted, and they must be unique (you cannot reuse an ISBN assigned to a print edition of the book). If you don't own ISBNs, Lulu will provide them for free.
