The Church at the End of Portland Street, 2nd Ed.

A 2nd Edition in 2014 was inspired by the discovery of an 1857 journal and an early 20th century photograph. A total of ten photos were added, including the only known image of the original Universalist chapel.
Interviews in 2012 with more than 30 long-time "UUs" tell the story of how one small church in Yarmouth, Maine, adapted to changing times as a result of an historic 1961 nationwide merger of two faiths: Unitarianism and Universalism. A "non-creedal faith" with 7 principles resulted.
That merger happened more than 50 years ago. What effect did it have on this small New England community? As subsequent decades unfolded--and the church nearly closed in 1979--how do current and long-time members tell the story? This book is an oral history, crafted completely of interview quotes.
100+ photos, most in full color; several historic b&w images.
